In the Quiet

This morning it is quiet. My boys are still sleeping (a rare thing after 7am these days) and I am alone in the stillness of my warm house with a hot cup of coffee (another rare thing). My devotions for the day are done and there are chores threatening to take me from my cozy place on the couch. I'm telling them "NO!" because there is something precious about quiet mornings that should not be disturbed.

Even Buster is on his best quiet behavior, chewing apart a rope bone instead of racing across the living room. This is the time that fills me up. Unhurried, peaceful moments to sit and think, to pray, to meditate on God, His grace, His peace.

How often do we really get these moments? How often do we get them and simply ignore them?

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for this quiet time with you. Thank you for the blessings of comfort, of quiet, of your covenant promises for me. Thank you for family, for understanding my needs and filling them completely. Your peace is what I seek, thank you for that gift especially since I don't deserve it. In your name, Amen.

My prayer for you, my friends, is that you find moments of peace in your busy day. That you take those moments to simply be present instead of hurried; that you thank God for the blessings of your day. Dear friend, there are so many, many blessings just for YOU!
