June Craft Report

One afternoon we decided to make super hero masks! The kids picked their felt colors and went to town decorating with puff paint and glitter. Eli has worn his mask multiple days and to multiple appointments; always getting plenty of compliments!

Another afternoon we made sidewalk chalk spray paint.
1/3 c. Flour, 10+ drops of food coloring and 1/3 c. water in a spray bottle. We made blue and green and both were gone within seconds. Thankfully the garage and boat were cleaned of their spray before any permanent damage was done. Ooops! "ONLY spray the ground!" was said just a few times.

One hot morning we attempted to make sun-melted crayon candles. Even in 80+ heat and direct sun for hours, our candles didn't melt. :( They still look like this. I've even set it out in the sun for an additional 3 days.....and nothing happened. Anyone know if I can bake them??

Finally we made homemade bubbles.
1/2 cup corn syrup, 2 1/2 cups water, 1/2 cup blue Dawn dish soap. Microwave the corn syrup and water for 4 minutes. Stir in soap. Cool before letting the kids play with it. Store in a spill-proof container.

We picked a nice windy day to do this and the boys could simply hold out their wands to make bubbles. No blowing needed, but of course always fun to try!

We also made our own wands out of pipe cleaners. The boys each got to pick their own wand shapes and help secure them. Eli liked the other "wand" better because they made bigger bubbles. These were made from a straw cut in half and a piece of yarn strung through them. Fingers got really sticky using this "wand" but it was worth all the fun!
