Today the boys had a dentist appointment. Both of them. One right after the other.
We arrived just on time (which is a feat in itself!) and had to fill out paperwork since it was Eli's first time. I wasn't even done signing every page when Isaac was called to the back. He jumped right up and started walking with the lady. Not even a glance back to see if I was coming!
We're off to a great start!
Eli and I grabbed our bag and "The B" and went back too.
The four of us, and our stuff, crammed into a room much too small and got Isaac settled into the chair. He got to see how each tool worked, touch the "toothbrush" and push the button to make the chair recline-to which he declined. Eli jumped all over that, though!
That's when our problems started. He refused to lay back in the chair. I bribed him with a treat, "The B" and finally sitting on my lap. Neither worked, but I climbed in the chair anyway. I figured I could at least hold him down if needed.
It was needed.
After lots of whining (no tears!) he complied to brushing 3 teeth then he was done. The nice hygienist lady was worried of scaring him out of future appointments so she just left to grab the dentist. He tried to be funny (maybe it was to a 2 year old...) and was able to count Isaac's teeth before the mouth clamped shut and refused to open again.
*Sigh*
While nice lady sanitized the room we were sent back to the waiting room and the boys were made to clean up the mess they had previously left unattended. Before we knew it we were back in the room waiting for Eli to have his teeth checked.
He went into the room bouncing, chattering away. Things came to a halt as soon as he was asked to lie back in the chair. CHILD! He went from excited to almost-peeing-in-his-pants-scared in a second.
I had to climb into the chair, yet again, and hold him down while we coaxed and bribed and encouraged and threatened him to open his mouth and clean his teeth. The toothbrush actually made it's way in and touched each tooth, but other than that he was done. NO cooperation.
The dentist was able to check each tooth and all looks good.
Now, to forget about this for another 6 months before we have to do it all over again!
