I wanted to follow a recipe, but I didn't have butter. So, I ended up making my own recipe instead.
I think most people call these Pecan Balls or Pecan Snowballs, but I like the name Dirty Snowballs instead. Hehe
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup softened margerine (1 stick)
3 TBsp sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup crushed/chopped pecans (I measured before I chopped)
*Powdered sugar for rolling the balls (1/3-1/2 cup)
Combine all ingredients (except powdered sugar) Mix and mix until dough forms into a giant ball. This takes a while and gets powdery before it comes together. I like to use a fork and scrape/smash like you do when you're making pie crust. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes then preheat your oven to 375. Form little 1" balls and bake 15-20 minutes. Remove from the cookie sheet and cool slightly then roll balls in powdered sugar.
