It's taken me a little longer to think about my 15 things for Sydney.
We've been having a really rough time in our "relationship". I guess I can't even call it a relationship right now. More like 2 people who happen to live in the same house.
Anyway, with the difficulties I've been thinking more about what I want her to learn about being a woman, but more importantly being a Child of God.
Here are my 15:
1. You are loved.
2. You are wanted.
3. You are not perfect. No one expects you to be perfect. This is Grace.
4. No one can make you feel anything you don't want to feel. You have control over your emotions.
5. You are a good person inside. Actions display that goodness, if we choose to. When we don't choose to display goodness, that's just a result of making poor choices. It does not mean we (YOU) are bad.
6. God gave us wonderful brains to use for HIS GOOD, not for our own. Sometimes those are one and the same, sometimes not. Sometimes it's hard to tell if we're acting for Good. Even adults have this problem.
7. Doing kind things for others helps us love them more, and it shows them that God loves them too.
8. Communication is the most important part of every single relationship you'll ever have in your life: with God, with your family, with your friends, and with every other person you meet.
9. Each person is given special gifts and talents from God. They are different for each person. Find out where your talents are and use them For God. It makes Him happy, and that will make you happy.
10. Family will always be there. If not in person, then in thoughts and prayers. They never leave your heart. And NO, you don't get to pick them.
11. Don't let people take advantage of you. Stand up for yourself and for what you believe.
12. Learn how to cook and bake, and do it well.
13. Learn how to be organized and keep things clean.
14. Have fun in life. Be happy with what God has blessed you with and remember to thank Him.
