Our Friday was spent at Oak Grove at one of the camps offered during summertime. Thanks to the
Sioux County Conservation Board, ISU Extension and 4H,
Sioux County Sportsmen's Club and
Pheasants Forever we had an incredibly fun-filled day at Outdoor Skills Day.
All of the workers and volunteers were outstanding! They provided us with lots of activities, lunch, and each (over 150!!) kid walked away with a prize.
Bright and early we loaded up the van, picked up an extra kid, and headed off (after dropping off Isaac with some friends) and managed to make it to the park early. The kids decided on a track of archery, GPS, Canoeing, Deer Hunting, Hiking, and Shooting. They were sooooooo pumped about the shooting so I'm glad we had that last!
Each session was an hour long (with a hot dog lunch break at the half way point) and we learned all sorts of new things. Sydney is asking for her own handheld GPS for her birthday and the boys want guns. :) All four of us fit in a canoe and we never crashed or got wet! Eli got special help with archery and managed to hit his target at least once.(Sadly I was too excited to take a picture!) There were so many highlights from the day, I hope they all stay excited about outdoor sports and keep up with it each year. My kids won't have an option, they're definitely going to be involved in some way.
Enough rambling, here are the pictures!
