A number doesn't change anything for me. I'm still the same person, still feel the same, still doing the same things.
But birthdays are still a great reason to get out of the house and celebrate and that's exactly what we did!
Kendall took me out Saturday night. I thought we were staying local, but he had other plans and off to SC we went! For the past 4 years, every birthday meal I've eaten has been horrible. (maybe with the exception of my 23rd because we cannot remember what we did that year.) Kendall had the brilliant idea to go to a buffet because he thought for sure I'd be able to find something that tasted good this year :) Isn't he so thoughtful?
I did find more than enough to eat and so we had to walk off our supper in Menards so I could collect my free birthday present from them. Love it! It's a mini screwdriver set that will be perfect for my craft drawer, or for Kendall's laptop case.
I admit at this point I was mad at Kendall because he said he wasn't feeling good and we had to get out so he could go home. It was my birthday, afterall, and I thought we'd be doing more than eating to celebrate.
He just wanted to surprise me and take me mini golfing. He still had hours of fun planned for us :)
We got to the golf course right after a group of high school girls and spent plenty of time rolling our eyes at them. They let us pass them and the night went better after that. Kendall got his ball stuck under a rock, mine skipped along some bricks and then hid in bushes, and generally we stunk at the game. hahaha
To give Kendall his 5 seconds, he did get a hole in one and enjoyed the game more after that hole.
Post-game we went downtown and found a sports bar so we could have a couple drinks. The pool tables were occupied, so Kendall convinced me to play a game of darts that turned into 3 games. It was more fun than I thought it would be! Yes, I did miss the board on several occasions, but I didn't care at that point.
It was a great night and I love that I didn't make any of the plans.
