Psalm 127: 3
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.
I picked this verse for Isaac because it reminds me of how special he is. He is a reward from God to Kendall and I, and all of us. We are blessed to have him in our lives. I remember when I found out I was pregnant with Isaac-I was not ready for him to be part of our family. I wanted my plans to play out and for him to wait a couple years, but God knew better. He knew we needed Isaac to complete our family; God knew how much joy he would bring to our lives. He knew how much his cheesy smile would make me laugh when I’m feeling down and how everyone can feel that his kisses are full of love.
It took me a while to decide what I wanted to say about his heritage. I’m not talking about how he’s more Dutch than German, rather how he is chosen by God. Isaac was chosen by God to be our child. His heritage will be that of the Lord’s in that he is God’s son. He is called, like us, to bear witness and obey the Law. He is to be a light in the darkness and share the Good News; as are we. God has great plans for Isaac and our family; I believe that with all of my heart. Let’s thank Him for Isaac and his many blessings.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to you today with praise and thanks for Isaac and all the joy he brings to our lives. We see your love and glory in him and are reminded of your promises every day. I ask that you watch over this boy as he continues to grow and learn new things. Please be with Kendall and me and help us teach him your ways. Be with Sydney and Eli and Isaac and help them be kind, patient, and loving toward each other-help them follow your paths for their lives. God, you have blessed our family with the love and support of those gathered with us. Please help us witness to them and shine your light through each of us. You are our Master and Redeemer. Forgive us when we are disobedient. Bless the food that you have so graciously provided for us. Be on our hearts and minds and let our conversations be pleasing to you.
In your Holy Name, Amen.
Kendall and Delicia,
