God is in control

Projects never seem to go the way they're supposed to around here. Shingling is no exception. We found not 1, not 2, but 3 layers of shingles on the roof AND THEN a layer of cedar planks. Taking off is a real workout for the guys. and then there are nails stuck in the roof from all of those layers. :S

This is what the roof looks like today-just plywood down on the East side.

We've been blessed with a great neighbor who gave an afternoon and night to help pull nails. Kendall's brother has been helping when he's not in class and my family has all been over to help in some way or another. Even Sydney went out to pick up nails with the Mighty Mag I'm borrowing from the fridge.

Kendall keeps asking what he did for things to not go right. Why do projects always become more than we can handle? My answer every time is that God is trying to tell us something. I think this time it's that HE is in control. God is the source of our strength, HE gives us patience and keeps us safe.

After the first night of working on the roof, it rained. There were some open spots in the roof and water got in. And then the second night we had very steady rain and I got wet while nursing Isaac. :( Kendall went up in the attic at 3:30 in the morning trying to find the leaks and put buckets and bowls and towels underneath. Who controls the rain? Not I; not Kendall.

I've accepted this as our lesson, but am keeping my eyes, ears, and heart open to whatever it is that God is trying to tell me. But I think I've got this one down. Ask me why I think that?

I was climbing back in the van after running an errand and saw a little sticky note on the road. Bet you'll never guess what it said? :D

"GOD IS IN CONTROL!"

Amen!
